Choosing The Best Toys For Kids For 2013

4 Mar

It can be difficult to select the best toys for kids for 2013. Part of the challenge is finding out what the hot toys are. It’s only July, but we already have a good idea what toys are going to be hot. Finding the best toys is a year long job. We have been watching the toy industry for so many months. Actually, we have been looking at Christmas toys since the start of the year. The toys are only starting to come out on store shelves. There are certain toys that stand out from the rest.

The easiest way to find the best toys is to go around to all of the toy companies and see what new toys they are bringing out. You can tell right away if a toy is going to be on the list. There is something different about these toys that makes them great. When a lot of people think about toys, they only think about it being fun. It might sound a bit obvious, but parents should pick toys that they think their children will want. A lot of parents forget about their kids when they are selecting toys. Never pick a toy that you like based on appearance. Don’t try to pick a toy that you know that your kids will play with only once or twice. The best way to get a quality toy is to try to get hands on time with the toy at a local retail store. You can also watch videos of the toy online or check out reviews from other parents. Think about your children and their likes. This is the best advice that we can give.

One question that we always get asked is how much should I spend? Children really don’t know how much you have spent. Most parents struggle greatly with this.  Save as much as you can. The easiest answer is to spend as much as you can afford.   Don’t ever spend more than you have.  If you do, you are going to hate Christmas. If children create a laundry list of toys tell them to pick just one or two.

A lot of parents ask whether they should choose educational toys. This is going to sound strange but every toy offers educational value. It doesn’t matter what kids play with, they are always learning something new and different. Toys can help kids learn more about themselves and even help them with problem solving skills. Other toys help kids develop relationships with others.

Safety is very important when selecting toys. You don’t want to choose toys that will fall apart after a few uses or contain lead inside them. The main thing is to get something your child is interested in. You can even ask your child if they are interested in a certain toy without directly stating the toy. Ask them if they like a certain character or if they would like a friend.

Children have a lot of expectations on Christmas day. It can be overwhelming for both parents and children. Kids might want a lot of things but there is no way that parents can afford to buy them everything that they want. Parents have to learn how to pick and choose.

Many parents want to know whether it is good to get kids one big present or a lot of little ones. It actually depends on the child. Some children want a big present. Other children prefer to a lot of smaller presents. Children all have different needs and you have to evaluate what your children want. We usually recommend getting one big toy and a few little ones like collectibles.  Then slowly give the children the toys. Never give the toys to the children all at once.  It won’t make the same impact. Children will only focus on one toy and forget the rest. It is better the stagger the presents.  If you give them everything at once they may only gravitate to one of two and then get overwhelmed. This might make them upset.

Always choose toys that are durable and things that that offer a lot of play value. Get them something that will last awhile and that they will show continued interest in. We can’t stress this enough, always think about longevity when choosing toys.
